Florence Food Share's Pantry Expansion Project In July, 2016, our supervising agency, Food for Lane County, mandated that Food Share implement a second food program, labeled the "Rural Delivery Program". This program that operates out of our lobby, established income eligibility guidelines for all lobby shoppers. This doubled our clientele overnight and caused massive confusion, chaos, crowding, and general mayhem in our pantry. We were already bulging at the seems, but now it was imperative that we do something to alleviate the crowding we were experiencing.
Through $67,000 in community support and $83,000 in grants, we were able to begin construction on our pantry addition. A huge thank you to the community and Foundations that supported this project.
August 3, 2015 Update: Food Share would like to thank the Siletz Tribal Charitable Contribution Fund for their generous grant, awarded Friday, July 31, 2015. Because of Siletz, we are able to continue our Culturally Diverse Food Project. In addition to the canned jalepeños, enchilada sauce, tamales, corn and flour tortillas and the other shelf stable foods, we are now growing 3 different types of Anaheim peppers in our garden. Thank you, Siletz!
Thank you, Siletz Tribal Charitable Contribution Fund, Cow Creek Umqua Indian Foundation and the Spirit Mountain Community Fund
Florence Food Share would like to thank the Siletz Tribal Charitable Contribution Fund, the Cow Creek Umqua Indian Foundation, and the Spirit Mountain Community Fund for their generous grants which have enabled Florence Food Share to implement this much needed program. Since the project’s inception on August 15, 2014, Food Share has been able to advertise specifically to the Latino population in our area; and to distribute food staples familiar to this demographic. We appreciate STCCF, CCUIF, and SMCF facilitating our outreach efforts and look forward to continuing this project in the years to come. Thank you for recognizing the importance of serving all of the different populations in Western Lane County.
